Dresden-Plauen (German: Haltepunkt Dresden-Plauen) is a railway station situated in Dresden, Germany. The station is situated on the Dresden–Werdau line and operated by DB Station&Service.


The renovated entrance constructing from 1897 on the first Dresden-Plauen station, which was energetic till 1926, as seen from south. The new station is situated a lot nearer to residential areas, roughly close to the chimney within the image’s background.

The Haltepunkt Plauen bei Dresden (“Plauen close to Dresden halt”) was opened on 18 June 1855 along with the Albertsbahn (Albert’s Railway) and was situated to the left (south-east) of the railway. In 1897, the so-called Alte Bahnhof (outdated station) Plauen was opened with the station constructing situated close to the right-hand aspect of the present tracks. A couple of months later, the unique constructing was demolished, when the connection to the Felsenkeller brewery was constructed there.[3] A ready room was erected instead, which was moved to the Boderitz-Cunnersdorf halt of the Windbergbahn (Windberg Railway, a former mining railway now used as a heritage railway) in 1923 and nonetheless exists in the present day (2016). In 1903, after the incorporation of the village of Plauen into Dresden, the station’s title was modified to Dresden-Plauen. Since the station was situated fairly poorly for the inhabitants of Dresden-Plauen, which had now grown to 12,000 folks, a brand new station was opened about 800 m additional north in January 1926 and the outdated station was closed.[4] This halt, opened in 1926, is to be renovated by the center of 2018.[5] The entrance constructing that was inbuilt 1897 (the outdated station) was renovated within the late Nineteen Nineties and in the present day homes a glass workshop (2016).[3]

DB will likely be finishing up a bridge alternative and station renovation challenge in 2020–2022. The present bridge is functionally out of date.[8] The Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) is contemplating extending the tram to make a direct reference to the S-Bahn as part of Stadtbahnprogrammn 2020.[9]
