James Gardens

James Gardens is a public botanical backyard within the Etobicoke district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada alongside the Humber River. It was a former non-public property offered to the City of Toronto and now managed by the Toronto Parks Department.

In 2013, Rob Ford, the previous mayor of Toronto, lived close to the doorway of the park. He was unsuccessful in shopping for a section from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.[2] An investigation by a Toronto Star reporter led to a night-time confrontation by Ford with the reporter.

The park was bought by Metro Toronto for CA$150,000 in 1955 and subsequently operated by its Parks Department.

In the Twenties, the James household put in weeping tiles and water options. Various First Nations artifacts together with spear factors have been discovered. These have been examined within the early 2000s and dated to be 4,000 years previous.[1]

The James household lived in a home located on the highest west nook of the property at Edgehill Road.
